Hope Christmas Festival

Sydney’s Youth Association has organised their first ever annual ‘Hope Christmas Festival’ on Boxing Day 2012 at the Assyrian Australian Social Centre’s sports field (rear of Nineveh Lounge).

The day will be comprised of good food and drinks, live entertainment by well-known singers for the whole family, guest stars of favourite Disney characters, clowns, etc., amusement rides for everyone and ultimately giving the true meaning of the Holy Feast of the Birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The festival will run from midday till 9 PM with a firework display finale.

The Assyrian Church of the East Youth Association Sydney had organised a lecture for all the sons and daughters of the Holy Church, and alike. This lecture was presented by the renowned Dr. J.J. van Ginkel, from University Leiden, Netherlands.

The lectures topic was on how the Church of the East has spread Christianity towards the East.

Sermon: Rev John – 4th Sunday of the Hallowing of the Church

The gospel readying in this sermon is based on being faithful and avoiding hypocrisy. The Gospel reading was from Matthew 22:41-23:22.

Sermon: Rev John – 3rd Sunday of Hallowing of the Church

The sermon is based on the gospel reading of John 2:12-22. The Lord Jesus showed zeal for the house of the Lord when he saw people tuning it into a house of trade. The Lord Jesus shows us an example to stand up for what is right in love.

Sermon: Rev John – 2nd Sunday of Hallowing of the Church

Reverend John is preaching about how man makes his own judgments without referring to the true teachings. An example of this is in Matthew 12: 1-13, where the Pharisees have set their own law regarding the Sabbath.

Sermon: Rev John – 1st Sunday of Hallowing of the Church

Reverend John is preaching about the importance of the Church. The reading is from the Gospel of Matthew 16:13-19; 21:12-13. It teaches us to behave like members of a church and not be like the wolves in sheep clothing.
