40th Year Anniversary of the Opening and Consecration of St Mary’s Church (Smithfield)

40th anniversary of the consecration and opening of St Mary’s Church (Smithfield) will be celebrated on Sunday 9 November 2014 at St Mary’s Church.

Prayers will commence at 5:30pm followed by fellowship in the parish hall.

HB Mar Meelis Zaia AM Metropolitan amongst reverend clergy and deacons will be present.

The launch of the five historical books

The Academic Committee of the Assyrian Church of the East Archdiocese of Australia and New Zealand invite all reverend priests and deacons along with all staff at St Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School and St Narsai Assyrian Christian College and all those interested to St Mary’s Church hall on the 2nd November 2014 at 6 pm for a historical event.

The purpose of the event is the launch of the five historical books of the Late Rabi Emmanuel Shimon – reprinted and distributed by the Church’s academic committee.

The night will be presented by Rabi Benyamin Moshe Benyamin with guest of honour H.B. Mar Meelis Zaia AM, Metropolitan.

REST Retreat 2014!

The Ss. Peter and Paul Church Parish are invi5ng you all to join us for the REST Retreat to take place on Friday 12/12/14 to Sunday 14/12/14. The REST Retreat will be held at the Waterslea venue in Shoal Haven.

The REST Retreat is a spiritual and entertaining retreat which is open to families and individuals from 16 years of age or younger as a family. It will cost $150 per person.

Freedom for the Persecuted Church Presented by www.alhorreya.tv

Please note that our church in Sydney will soon receive Dr Rafaat William, Managing Director of Alhorreya TV and Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, Addiction Medicine, and Psychosomatic Medicine – School of Medicine, Loma Linda University, California, United States of America.

The program, called ‘Freedom for the Persecuted Church Presented by www.alhorreya.tv’ will take place on Tuesday 28 October 2014 at St Mary’s Church (Smithfield), at 7pm. Refreshments will be made available after the program at the parish hall.

Program will primarily be in Arabic, however, our church choir will deliver hymns in our mother tongue.

Commemoration of the Patron Saint, St George the Martyr

His Beatitude Mar Meelis Zaia AM will be conducting the Holy Eucharistic service at St. George’s Parish, Mattraville on Sunday the 2nd November 2014 celebrating the Commemoration of the Patron Saint, St George the Martyr.

Afterwards, the parish had organised foods and children’s rides for entertainment.
