CAN YOU HELP?

Please help us bring some joy and make Christmas a wonderful time for those less fortunate than us.

Hampers can be packed in a shoe box, green shopping bag or a foam fruit box; nothing too big or it becomes a WH&S issue.

You may donate items every Sunday night at youth, from 5 – 9pm, or every Tuesday from 7-8:30pm, or every Wednesday at 6-7pm. You may also donate via PayPal, and the youth committee will purchase canned foods on your behalf. All items must be donated on or before Sunday 4 December 2016.

Memorial commemoration of St George the Illustrious Martyr

Announcement from St George’s Parish (City): Holy Raza will be celebrated by HB Mar Meelis Zaia at St George’s Parish (Matraville) on Sunday 24 April 2016 at 9am – commemorating the Memorial of St George the Illustrious Martyr. Food will be sold after Holy Raza.

Commemoration of St George

Dear beloved,

On behalf of the St George parish, St George committee is inviting you all to St Georges commemoration day which will be celebrated on the 1st of November 2015.

Holy Eucharistic service (raza) will be conducted by HB mar Meelis Zaia, at st George parish (310 Bunnerong road Matraville, 2036) (Matraville primary school). Raza starts 9am, and followed by entertainment and food.

Please bring family and friends and come along. There has been buses organized to depart from Assyrian Australian social centre (former Nineveh club) for those that do not want to drive, tickets can be purchased from committees after Sunday raza. $25 per ticket.

Spring Festival 2015

The Assyrian Schools (St Hurmizd Primary & St Narsai High Schools) are hosting
their Inaugural Spring Festival on Sunday the 27th September (during the school
holidays).

The festival will be held at the high school grounds (Nineveh Lounge),
commencing 10 am (or after the conclusion of the Holy Eucharist) till 5 pm in
the evening.
The festival will comprise of carnival rides for all ages, hot foods & sweets,
markets, carnival foods and much more.

All proceeds will go towards the School Building Fund.

We hope to see the entire community there. God bless you for your continued

Holy Feast of the Transfiguration (Gelyana)

Please note that HB Mar Meelis Zaia AM Metropolitan will celebrate the Holy Raza of the Feast of the Transfiguration (Gelyana) at St Hurmizd’s Cathedral at 8:30am on Thursday 6 August 2015.

This year the Walkathon will take place on Sunday 21 June 2015. The walk will start and end at St Hurmizd’s Cathedral, and will be officially be opened by HB Mar Meelis Zaia AM Metropolitan among reverend priests and deacons.

Registrations require a $10 fee (which will cover costs for shirts). You can register and pay with a youth committee member during Sunday night bible studies, or online via the following links:

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: service on 18th May 2015

This year the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be in solidarity with the Eastern Churches of the Council.

Over the last year, the persecution against Christians in the Middle East has been severe.

This year Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be held at the Assyrian Church of the East, as announced on the attached poster.

Theme for 2015:
Jesus said to her: “Give me to drink” (John 4:7)
